CardPriceCheck LLC (“CardPriceCheck”, “we”, “us”) makes the CardPriceCheck app for iPhone and the website at cardpricecheck.app. This policy explains what information we collect when you use them, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
The short version
- Card recognition happens on your phone. The photos you scan are not uploaded to us.
- You can scan cards, search and see prices without an account.
- If you create an account, we store your sign-in details and the collection you build so it syncs across devices.
- We don’t show ads, we don’t track you across other apps or websites, and we don’t sell your information.
- You can delete your account and its data at any time.
Information we collect
When you create an account
- Sign-in details. When you sign in with Apple, Google or an emailed link, we receive your email address and an account identifier. If you use Sign in with Apple and choose to hide your email, we receive a private relay address instead. Google may also share your name and profile picture.
- Profile. The display name or username you choose, the avatar you pick, and settings such as your currency and time zone.
When you use your collection
- Your collection. The cards you add, their quantities, the purchase price and date you enter, and the names of your collections. We use current market prices to calculate your collection’s value over time and store that history with your account.
- Share links. If you create a share link, anyone who has the link can see that collection and your display name. We count how many times a link is viewed. You can turn a link off at any time.
When you subscribe
Subscriptions are paid through Apple’s App Store or, on the website, through Stripe. They process your payment; we never see your card number. We receive a customer reference, what you bought and whether your subscription is active.
When you contact us
If you email us, we keep your message and address so we can reply. If you choose to attach the app’s scan log, it includes your app version, iOS version and device model.
Technical information
Like any online service, our servers and hosting providers receive your IP address and basic request details (such as the time and the page or data requested) when the app or website talks to them. We use this to deliver the service, prevent abuse and fix problems. It is kept for a short period in operational logs and is not used to build a profile of you.
What stays on your device
- Scans. The camera, the photos you pick from your library and the images you share into the app are processed on your iPhone to identify cards. They are not saved or sent to us.
- Recent searches and scans. Your recent searches and recently viewed cards are stored on your phone. The words you search for are sent to our servers to find matching cards, but are not saved to your account.
- Card data and images you download for offline use, and the app’s scan log, stay on your phone. The scan log leaves it only if you share it.
Permissions the app asks for
- Camera, to scan cards and graded slabs.
- Photos: none. When you scan from your library, you pick the images yourself and the app sees only those.
- Notifications, to tell you when a card you shared into the app has been priced.
How we use information
- To provide the app and website: sign-in, syncing your collection, prices and share links.
- To calculate your collection’s value and its history.
- To manage subscriptions and the features they include.
- To answer support requests.
- To keep the service secure, prevent abuse and fix problems.
We don’t use your information for advertising, and we don’t sell it or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Who we share information with
We share information only with companies that help us run the service, and only as they need it to do so:
- Supabase: our database and sign-in service, where your account and collection are stored.
- Vercel: hosts the website.
- Cloudflare: delivers card images and downloadable card data.
- Apple and Google: when you sign in with them.
- Apple and Stripe: when you pay for a subscription.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect the rights and safety of our users or others, or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of the business, in which case this policy continues to apply to your information.
Cookies
The website uses only the cookies needed to keep you signed in. We don’t use advertising or analytics cookies.
How long we keep information
We keep your account information and collection for as long as you have an account. When you delete your account, we delete your profile, collections, share links and collection history from our systems, and they are removed from backups within 30 days. We may keep records of purchases where the law requires it.
Your choices and rights
- Delete your account in the app from Profile, or by emailing us. This deletes the data described above.
- Change your profile and collections in the app at any time.
- Turn off share links from the collection you shared.
- Ask us for a copy of your information, to correct it or to delete it by emailing support@cardpricecheck.app. We’ll respond within 30 days.
Depending on where you live (for example California, or the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom), you may have additional rights, such as the right to know what we collect, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to complain to your local data protection authority. We won’t treat you differently for exercising them. Where the GDPR applies, we process your information to provide the service you asked for (performance of a contract) and for our legitimate interests in keeping it secure and working.
Where information is stored
Our servers are in the United States. If you use the service from elsewhere, your information is transferred to and stored in the United States.
Children
CardPriceCheck is not directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we’ll delete it.
Security
We protect information in transit with encryption, keep sign-in tokens in your iPhone’s Keychain, and limit access to your data to your own account through database access rules. No service can promise perfect security, but we work to protect your information.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date above. If the changes are significant, we’ll let you know in the app or by email before they take effect.
